"Put on the full armor of God...." Ephesians 6:11 (NIV)
When you go out in the sun, you put on your sunscreen. Right? If not, here's your reminder. You need protection from the sun! After you get your daily dose of Vitamin D (which takes about 15 minutes), then you need coverage. Guard your health. Preserve your skin.
In the same way, when you go out into the world, you need to be covered! Shield your mind. Safeguard your heart.
In Ephesians 6, Paul instructs us to "be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms....Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
So let's cover all the bases before we go out...into the sun...or into the world.
Lord, please shield us today. Put a hedge of protection around our bodies, our minds, our hearts. Help us to take the time to take action and do our part...before we head out.
